People who actually get scammed by something clever, I sympathize for them. But these morons who don't check the price or item they're trading? They DO deserve it. And then they come on here and complain? I mean, sure, it's good for a laugh, but don't you think it would be more effective to send an e-mail to ANet instead of complaining to a forum?

So you're saying that if I walk into a bad neighborhood because I'm in a hurry and/or am not paying attention and get shot to death, that I deserved to die because I wasn't paying attention? That somehow doesn't fit. The example's extreme but still fits. Why would you want to take advantage of someone else? It all points to character.

To thoses that too quickly click the accept button...yes it is exciting to get someone to buy that gold item or high health upgrade at a high price but always always always check your items and prices first, never trust someone at first glance, and keep your arrow away from the accept button untill you are sure of the trade.

You write a rant trying to prove your intelligence, but you fill it with errors you are supposed to learn to fix in elementary school....

Seriously, I doubt you can make 1.8 mil in less than 10 minutes. And when good scammers scam, they don't scam all the time. Scamming is just a side job. You say you only make 25k-100k a day. Why do I say only? Just by hunting giants in the desert my brother and I can at very least make 400k each a day. Easily, without taking six hours.

I have never been scammed, even though people have tried to scam me countless times. The reason? Think before your actions. Check prices before you buy. Spend a minute or two checking your trade window. Check the actual item, gold/plat, and seller's name. From this rant, I can tell that you have been scammed many times, and keep falling for the same pathetic scams.

And yes, I am proud of my brother, my friends, and... myself. Without scamming, we have made more money than you ever have. Individually... try us. Scamming, like I said, is a side job. We don't always scam, usually the people we try to scam are people that act like you. When people get all coc.ky and brag that they are the best, they usually get scammed the hardest.

Don't pull out this "noob" crap, none of us are noobs. We are not retards. Then my favorite, we are not "retarts." We know more about this game- economy-wise, skills-wise, build-wise- than you even get close to knowing. And no we don't dedicate our lives to this game, we are just *actually* intelligent and learn the game instead of complaining about flaws or other players.

Again, no. Decent scammers- I do not scam for any scammers but the intelligent ones- only work part time. Just as in real life, your job may be superior because of the benefits you receive... Money isn't everything. Again, we aren't bad at GuildWars. To be a pioneer scammer, you have to know everything about the economy and the game itself. If you are doing your own scams, you have to think about a few things in advance. The top five are:
1) How can I scam someone for a large amount without them finding out?
2) How can I scam without getting blocked? (The hardest to master, but once you do, you are invincible)
3) How can I come up with my own scams?
4) How can I guarantee that I can continue this scam?
5) Where do I pull the scam?
Without knowing these five, you will get nowhere.

I am proud. When my brother scams people, I do feel bad at first. I also think that when some people get scammed, that they quit. Then I remember, people that are this bad at the game are not people I want to play with.

I personally don't feel sorry for the people who have been scammed (they should have been more cautious), but neither can I feel any admirance for people who scam other people and make millions of in game gold by their methods. I just pity them for the fact that they have to cheat other people in order to feel joy from the game, especially those who pride themselves in the fact that they stole some other guy's virtual money.
I do not stand for most scammers. Many are just as dumb as the people that get scammed. You CANNOT get banned. ArenaNet DOES NOT ban people. They block you for a VERY short period in time, starting off with only one day, then moving to two days, etc. All they do is slap you on the wrist, and then tell you to come up with a way that doesn't classify as scamming. The best is when they congratulate you.

"I just pity them for the fact that they have to cheat other people in order to feel joy from the game, especially those who pride themselves in the fact that they stole some other guy's virtual money." The game is enjoyable by itself, otherwise the person wouldn't bother scamming. Scamming is very enjoyable by its own right, but so is the game.

Yes, common sense has definitely been nerfed. Their worthiness of scamming is on part of their attitude, a case unique for each individual.

Exactly.

To finish this off, has anyone noticed a trend? Everyone that brings out the positives in scamming or blame scamming on the stupidity of the scammed use English correctly. Likewise, everyone that "tipes ike dis" and cannot spell or write grammatically if their life depended on it, are the ones that get or have been scammed.

Intelligence of the person being scammed may be an issue for them, however, the main issue of scamming is the character of the scammer. In the real world it's called fraud and its a criminal offense. Try scamming the IRS for taxes.

FRAUD
intentional deception resulting in injury to another person
imposter: a person who makes deceitful pretenses
something intended to deceive; deliberate trickery intended to gain an advantage

Scamming in a game doesn't mean you scam in real life. My real character isn't one of a scammer. In real life, I have never stolen anything. I never will, either; not because I do not want to receive the penalty, but because I do not want to see a real person's life ruined over a stupid act. Real life and a game are very different.

But, if you are smart... there are ways to scam even the IRS and get away with it.

It all starts somewhere. If you are apt to scam someone in game you are more apt to do it in real life (whether you do or not). It's all about a person's character.

Count your blessings. It only takes one occurance to subvert your pride and bring you down to the same "level" as all the others who have been. But, 'tis good advice for all. Take time to see what you're trading and don't let others rush you.

The sheer arrogance of your comment earns you a hefty slap across the face. Are you this way in real life? If so, I sincerely doubt you have any real friends -- just fellow offenders with a like mind for bringing suffering to those "beneath" you. Side note: remember, if someone is beneath you, then someone is above you. Always. You most definitely are NOT at the top, especially if you think scamming others in a freaking computer game earns you real-life props.

...Unless, of course, you scam others in real life also, in which case I do sincerely hope the cops find you quickly.

I must say, I find this hard to believe. Congratulate you? For scamming? You'll have to show me some real proof to back up that dubious claim.

So, how has my spelling and grammar been? Have I brought out a single positive to the act of scamming? I certainly hope not. Blanket statements are always wrong. And, yes, I realize that was a blanket statement. It's called "irony." However, it is true, nonetheless.

And, no, I've never been scammed. At least, not to the point I consider it important in the least. Maybe it's luck, maybe I just pay attention. Maybe it's because I rarely trade knowing "criminals" like you are out there trying to make a quick virtual buck off of me. In any case, I may not get rich very quickly, but I certainly enjoy the game a whole lot more. And that's something NO scammer can steal from me.

And you know what? I don't care. You're probably full of BS anyways, but even if you really are that rich, it's not a big deal. I can still have enough money to easily make new characters with powerful weapons. If you're proud of having more money than me in this game, go ahead and be proud.

Scammers are piles of horse dung. And people that defend them are no better. There is a godamn reason in society that kind of behaviour isnt accepted nor tolerated. For all you aholes that thinks its cool to scam and that people deserve it, I hope the next used car you buy falls apart and you have to deal with a crooked auto dealer.

So what you're saying is, you're an ass enough to make people feel bad ingame (because it's not real) but you would never do anything like scamming in real life? Are the sadness/disappointment/anger that people feel ingame as a result of the scam not real? Also, you talked about how the reason you don't scam in real life is not because of the penalty. Are you sure about that? Because comming from a person who feels pride outwitting (I assume this is what you think when you scam people) probable 12 year olds, I'm not buying it. You don't necessarily ruin a person's life by scamming them. A minor scam may simply make the other person deflated or angry. So what's the difference between the result of a scam in game and in real life? There's only one: the possible consequences. Mabey you should re-evaluate your morales, get out of your brother's shadow, and pick a new role model. He seems to be having a bad influence on you.

Yes scamming is bad, however it is still just a game but still not a sign of good morals. I am not saying that I approve because I do not and believe that if you will do in in the game you will more than likely lower yourself (lower being the key word) to that level in life. (Not very Honorable ). Play the game and enjoy yourselves and live and learn. When I farm or when I just play half of the items or gold that I get I usually give away or trade for something that most would not. I do it because if someone needs something no matter its value I will still give it to them or trade it for them to help some noob in the game or help with quest etc. bottom line is ( It's Just a game ) take it for what it is. If you do not like what happens get out and do something outdoors. I still believe it is not very honorable in game or out. Remember it is not just what we say that makes us who we are but more so what we do in life in relations to ourselves and others around us

Thank you for my 2 cents. grin

Good information here! I say if someone wants to take time out of the game to try to rip me off, I can take a bit of time to send a note to anet. It's good to know something is done.

Can you post one of the letters where anet congratulated you on your well executed scam?
